Glory, glory, football season is finally back. The red-out is this weekend and that made us think of one thing ... red lipstick. There are two things you need to do to prepare for the Clemson throwdown: come by the store and check out all of the new red gear we released at the Grand Re-opening, then hit the beauty aisle for the perfect red lip accessory. However, that fluorescent-lit aisle in Target can be overwhelming. There's lip stain, lip gloss, matte lipstick, satin lipstick, etc., so how do you choose which one looks best with what you're planning to rock? No worries, Peaches, we know how busy life is again in the Classic City, so we sat down and compiled everything you need to know for when you are admiring the dozens of options to make your lips pop.
1. Type: Matte - Matte lipsticks have no shine, come in opaque colors, last longer than most other types of lipstick, and have no moisture. It's good to pair with a retro look or patterned pieces like our I'm a Hustler Jumpsuit. Also looks super sharp with wing-tipped black eyeliner and an up-do.
Brand: NYX Matte Lipstick in Perfect Red
2. Type: Shimmer - Shimmer lip glosses are very shiny, moisturizing, have an opalescent luster, and great for evening wear. Wear booties and a matte lip during the day, then switch out for heels and a lip gloss for downtown.
Brand: Sephora Collection: Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Cherry Red
3. Type: Lipstain - Lipstains are super versatile in that they provide a natural look, yet leave a stain on your lips that lasts throughout the day. They are great for when you're in a hurry or if you are low maintenance and don't normally wear that much makeup. Feels just like a regular lip-balm, just with a tint; gives lips a shade in between a sheer and full-coverage color.
Brand: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Romantic
4. Type: Satin - Satin lipsticks are the most popular stick for everyday wear, yet they can easily be worn for an evening out. They come in rich colors, have some moisture built in, and provide a pretty sheen between shiny and glossy. Satin lipsticks are not completely matte, but lean more toward that end on the lipstick spectum.
Brand: Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipcolor in On Fire Red (my personal fave!)
